Why God Loves Your SOS Prayers.

Updated: Sep 15, 2018

When the Titanic was sinking, there was a whole lot of praying going on. Our tendency in life can be the same- that when we find ourselves facing especially difficult challenges, we start sending up "SOS prayers". Although well meaning, some have implied that God either doesn't appreciate the gesture, or SOS praying is a sign of a weak relationship with Him.

I want to dispel the myth however, and give you good news- God has promised you that he hears your ALL your prayers, (especially your SOS ones) and that He will respond to you:

"Call to me, and I will answer you."

Jeremiah 33:3

"Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

Psalm 50:15

Far from making your relationship with God weak, SOS prayers actually build a greater dependency on Him. When you send up an SOS prayer, you are recognizing that what you need can only come from the Father.

When Olympic athlete Luis Zamperini was lost at sea for for 47 days, He cried out to God for the first time, recognizing that only He had the power to save. Even for the person sending up an SOS prayer for the very first time, the result is the same. It is a step closer to God. The bottom line— let that step lead your into an even deeper relationship with God. Walk with Him and invite him to help you in every facet of your life, every single day.
